Kyle Walker, 7, Suspended over Drawing Gun

plastic water pistol Kyle Walker, a 7-year-old second-grader was suspended one day for his drawing depicting a 'water pistol' by Dennis Township Primary School of Atlantic City in New Jersey.

He was suspended Thursday [Oct. 18] after drawing a stick figure shooting another stick figure, [Kyle's mother] Shirley McDevitt said.

One smiling figure had the name "me" written above it. The other smiling figure had a schoolmate's name on it.

Kyle Walker told his mother it was a water gun and that he and the boy were friends.

[....]

McDevitt said she was told he was suspended because of the school's zero-tolerance policy for guns. The drawing was discovered, she said, after the schoolmate brought the drawing home and his parents expressed their concerns to the school, she said.

To punish an innocent boy without drawing thought by such a way, I think, what the school concerned did is very ridiculous, totally support Shirley's requirement--remove suspension mark from  Kyle's permanent record! Link

Baby Girl's Bottom Grows Two Extra Feet

Two-month-old baby's bottom sprouted feet

Two extra feet with toes clearly visible have grown on the bottom of a 2-months old Chinese baby girl Maomao (pseudonym). Experts said the "feet" are actually from a parasitic fetus, one of the twins which is not fully formed during the embryonic development. Maomao is currently hospitalised in the Hunan's Children Hosiptal in Changsha and will be operated to remove this parasitic fetus soon. The abnormality was probably caused by radiation or some other sources of pollution during the first three months of the mother's pregnancy. Doctors believed that Maomao can have a normal life after the operation. We hope everything will be the best with the little toddler! [Source: TOM]

James Farrell, Son of Colin Farrell, Suffers Cerebral Palsy, aka Angelman Syndrome

Picture of James Farrell, Son of Colin Farrell, Suffers Cerebral Palsy, aka Angelman Syndrome
James Farrell (picture left), the son of Colin Farrell and his ex Kim Bordenave, was born with a rare form of cerebral palsy called Angelman Syndrome. I am feeling so sorry for such news, but in the other way, I just feel relieved that James Farrell has a father who loves him so much!  From Independent.Ie

In a moving interview, the actor described how the condition has affected his sons speech and mobility.

But despite the heartbreak the syndrome has caused he said that he is “incredibly blessed to have him in my life” and told of his joy when James recently took his first steps.

He said that his son had shown “amazing courage” in the first four years of his life and that he is an “incredibly happy boy” despite his condition.

Ironically Colin – who has joint custody of James with his mother Kim Bordenave – proudly led the Irish team to Croke Park for the Special Olympics before his son was born.

Colin – who has starred in such movies as Miami Vice and Phone Booth – said that James has “enriched” his life “incredibly.”

And he said that he is dedicated to helping his son reach his own “individual potential” and to be “as happy as he can be.”
Angelman Syndrome (AS) is a rare neuro-genetic disorder named after a British paediatrician, Dr. Harry Angelman, who first described the syndrome in 1965. A syndrome is a collection of features which occur together as a group and indicate a particular condition. AS is characterised by intellectual and developmental delay, speech impediment, sleep disturbance, unstable jerky gait, seizures, hand flapping movements, frequent laughter/smiling and usually a happy demeanour.

YoBaby Yogurt

YoBaby Yogurt

Yo Baby Yogurt, or YoBaby Yogurt, is an organic whole milk yogurt for babies and toddlers by StonyField Farm. YoBaby yogurts are certified organic and are designed to meet the special nutritional needs of little yogurt-eaters through three varieties: YoBaby Yogurt, YoBaby Plus Fruit & Cereal and YoBaby Drinkable Yogurt. YoBaby yogurt have also been bacteria (pre- and probiotics) enchanced. Fanny's suggestion on bookxo.com may let you have some idea how to feed your baby best with this yogurt:

Something you may want to consider: Yobaby yoghurt has quite a bit of sugar in it, which isn't great for your little bundle of joy. You'd be surprised how much babies like plain yoghurt. As in really, plain, no sweetener, no flavorings. I buy the whole milk plain yoghurt with no BGH from Whole Foods and it's about 2.50 for, I think, 32 oz. If your little one won't take it, try mixing in a bit of smashed banana or applesauce. It's sooooo much cheaper and actually better for your babe (and your wallet)

What you want to make sure of for baby is that it's whole milk yoghurt so that they get all the good fats and nutrients.
