Sale Johnson, ex-wife of Woody Johnson who owns the National Football League's New York Jets, married to her boyfriend Ahmad Rashad, reported New York Post's celebrity channel PageSix.
"It was going to be a birthday party for him. Then it turned into a party to celebrate his being inducted into the Football Hall of Fame, and finally he said, 'Let's just get married.' " Sale Johnson told the PageSix.
The wedding of Sale Johnson and Ahmad Rashad was held at La Grenouille, a French Restaurant located in the midtown Manhattan. Guests including Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, NBA Commissioner David Stern, Donald Trump, Martha Stewart and Carl Lindner and Derek Jeter were invited. But Casey Johnson, the extranged daughter of Sale Johnson, didn't attend.
The bridegroom Ahmad Rashad, 57, was once named Executive Producer of NBA Inside Stuff and NBA Entertainment-produced specials in March 1998. Also an Emmy Award-winning sportscaster, Ahmad Rashad is in his 12th season as host of Inside Stuff on NBC. Click here to see a full biography of Ahmad.
Rashād married actress and fellow NBC employee Phylicia Ayers-Allen on December 14, 1985, but divorced in 2001. With Phylicia Ayers, Rashad has three children, daughters Keva (born in 1970), Maiysha (born in 1974) and son Ahmad Jr. (born in 1978).

Eleanor Brennan, an American-based British woman, died Saturday after her horse stumbled when competing in the 2007 Horse Trials, an international horse event at the Florida Horse Park. It was reported Eleanor Brennan was riding an 11-year-old male named Mister Barnabus. Dara Torres broke the U.S. record in the women's 50-meter freestyle by swimming a 23.87 at the short course Arena World Cup in Berlin. The 40-year-old broke the mark of 24.21 Kara Lynn Joyce set on March 18, 2004. One can hardly believe such an "old" athlete can still break the record. Link
Update (July 2008): Dara Torres, with an age of 41, qualified her fifth Olympics for the 100m and 50m freestyle swimming at the US Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, becoming the oldest American swimmer ever to attend an Olympic. Dara Torres has decided to quit the Women’s 100m Freestyle competition at Beijing Olympics while to concentrate on the 50m event.
Update: Dara Torres qualified for Beijing Olympics's 50-Meter Freestyle final as the fastest qualifier swimmer. Her result was 24.27 second. Update: Dara Torres won a silver medal for the USA team. Her result is 24.07 seconds, 0.01s slower than German gold medalist Britta Steffen's new Olympic record time of 24.06 in the Women's 50m Freestyle final in Beijing.

Joe Nuxhall (1928-2007), the youngest player in major league history and the beloved "Ol' Left-Hander" on Cincinnati Reds radio broadcasts, died late Thursday November 15th following a long battle with cancer, the team said this morning. He was 79.
Joe Nuxhall compiled a career ERA of 3.90 and a record of 135-117 during his 16-season career. He was the youngest player ever to appear in a major league game during the modern era, pitching 2/3 of an inning for the Cincinnati Reds on June 10, 1944, at the age of 15 years, 10 months, and 11 days. Just three months after he broke Hank Aaron's career home run record, Barry Bonds , San Francisco Giants star and home run king wasn't home free after all.
Barry Bonds was indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice Thursday and could go to prison instead of the Hall of Fame for telling a federal grand jury he did not knowingly use performance-enhancing drugs.
Bonds is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in San Francisco on Dec. 7. If all the countns were verdicted, Barry Bonds would get a 30 years term in jail. Source: AP

2008 Beijing Olympics Bans Bibles in Olympic Village

Organizers for the 2008 Olympics in China have released their list of items banned from the Olympic village where the athletes will stay.
Among the "prohibited objects" -- Bibles.
The Catholic News Agency reports that the committee behind the Beijing games cited "security reasons" for the ban.
Athletes are also prohibited from bearing any kind of religious symbol at Olympic facilities.
