McCord was born in a small suburb outside of Atlanta, GA into a conservative family with two sisters, which continues to be a prominent source of inspiration in her life and career. McCord knew from a young age that she wanted to be an actress, starring in plays at her community theatre at the age of nine. After graduating from high school with honors at 15, she moved to Miami to pursue her dream of acting. While working at the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, McCord began auditioning on the side and landed a role in the opening scene of the feature film, "Transporter 2."McCord eventually moved to New York City where she enrolled at Esther Williams Studios to study the Meisner Technique. She then moved to Los Angeles where she quickly landed the lead role in the remake of the classic horror film, "Day of the Dead." She has also appeared in guest roles on "Close to Home" and "The O.C."
