~Fatto a Mano~

"Fendi strongly believes that creativity and the flow of ideas are the Fuel for the Future. Forever.”-Silvia Venturini Fendi/Fendi Accesories Creative Director

"Fatto a Mano" is Italian for "hand crafted". A lovely way to say 'DIY". Italian fashion house Fendi's new Baguette Mezzo Punto (Mezzo Punto is Italian for "half stitch") is a "concept" bag. It's basically a semi-DIYproject. The plain canvas baguette comes in a box with needle, thread and diagrams to custom sew the logo or whatever design you wish. I have mixed feelings about this concept... $995 is alot of money to spend on a bag you have to finish yourself, especially if you make a mistake. People that enjoy and excel at this sort of thing however will most likely think this is a genius idea. I personally will stick to buying bags already fabulous. For those interested in the Baguette Punto Mezzo, the do-it-yourself kit goes on sale Nov 30th at
Limited Edition Experiences in Miami and will be available in Fendi boutiques nationwide this spring.

~Coke On The Runway in Milan? Yes, But It's For A Good Cause~

"L'unione fa la forza." ("In union there is strength.")

Maybe you didn't know but "Glamour Whore" aka "LaBella Puppetta" (born "Ignazia") is a very proud product of Italy, well actually Sicily, and I write this post with great pride and joy... I love to see my fellow Italians giving back.

It's Fashion Week in Milan, Italy and yesterday instead of models with hour-glass figures, the models were shaped like Coke bottles. That's because they WERE Coke bottles...

Coca-Cola Italy, in collaboration with The Abruzzo Charity Project enlisted 8 female designers to design sleeves for a limited amount of "Coca-Cola Light" bottles (Italy's version of Diet Coke)to be available starting September 25th. Donatella Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Anna Molinari from Blumarine, Veronica Etro, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Marni’s Consuelo Castiglioni, Angela Missoni and Rossella Jardini at Moschino were the designers asked to participate, they said yes and the result is fabulous. The proceeds will be used by The Abruzzo Charity Project to help people/families affect by the devastating earthquake last year.

They kicked off the project at Fashion Week on Friday by showing the designs on the runway in the form of Coke bottles walking the runway...great idea.

"Moschino"

"Missoni"

"Marni"

"Fendi"

"Etro"

"Alberta Ferretti"

"Blumarine" (My favorite of the designs)

"Donatella Versace"

Last year at the exact same time, Coca-Cola asked Roberto Cavalli to design bottles featuring his staple animal spots and stripes and it was very successful. This was the amazing result:

Oh how I wish these bottles were available here in the US. I may have to plan a trip back to my family's homeland, see some relatives and enjoy a designer bottle of soda...

~Karl Lagerfeld For Fendi?! Have I Died And Gone To Fashion Heaven?~

"I can sit down on a white piece of paper and work because I don't believe too much into inspiration, only I'm waiting for inspiration, work and then inspiration may come. It's a little too easy to say that." -Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld For Fendi?! I'm sorry, I keep repeating myself but it's just too...good, for lack of a better word. I have been a Fendi enthusiast since I was just a wee little Sicilian glamette at home in CT. I have gone as far as to christen a fabulous part of my anatomy "The Fendi Sistas", I also named something "Gucci" but that's another story for another day... Needless to say, I am proud of fine Italian couture and Fendi is my favorite.
When I heard Karl Lagerfeld would be designing for Fendi, I truly felt like I had died and gone to fashion heaven... Ok, so I'm a lil dramatic...what did you expect?! Karl Lagerfeld, to me is a fashion God who walks among us mortals. He can do no wrong, and like another well known God, everything he touches turns to gold.
I have finally seen the first pictures of his collection for Fendi and was not surprised that he surpassed my expectations. Bellissimo!!
