I think the faster HDD will make a big difference.
I have a Powermac with 933 mhz, 1 Gb ram, and a 7200 rpm drive, and a iBook with 1.33 ghz, 1.5 Gb ram, and a 4200 rpm hard drive. They both have a fresh install of Leopard. The Powermac is faster at everything, even though it has a slower processor, and 1/3 less ram.
If your iBook has 512 ram built in, you can expand it to 1.5 Gb. If it has 256 built in, you can expand it to 1.25 Gb. Either way, you could put a 1 Gb stick in it.
I have mactubes installed, and they both play youtube videos very good.

Neither is what I would call GPU-intensive. As a matter of fact GarageBand '11 runs perfectly happilly on my iMac 1.83 Core Duo with a ATI X1600, and my MacBook White with a Intel X3100 - neither of which is remotely powerful compared to the GPU in my 11" Air. The situation is the same with Logic Pro, however the big downside with an Air is the lack of FireWire. If it fits in your workflow then a MBA w 4/8GB RAM should handle GarageBand/Logic Express/Logic Pro just fine (Heck my low-end 11"/1.4/2GB MBA handles Final Cut Pro for basic editing and even Motion 4 at a pinch, so Graphics definitely shouldn't be an issue).
That is great to know. I do not fear that much regarding FireWire, put simply because it is likely that Thunderbolt/Lightpeak is incorporated in the next MBA revision. I had been told that the MBA 13'' with 4GB of RAM studdered a bit when creating music on Garage Band '11 (input being an electrical guitar). That's the reason I created this topic, and still request for more feedback. ;)

I'm all with BanjoBanker. Totally addicted to my iPhone. It's the ultimate portable device, incredibly versatile and proves its handiness in countless situations day in and day out. And you don't need to carry 2 devices (phone and pocket computer)
But there are some downsides, too, most notably the smaller screen. If you'd like to have some screen space for some more serious work, such as writing, movies, pictures, editing, reading etc., then get the iPad. Sure, you need a bag and carry it around.. but depending on the things you want to do, it might be worth it. Also, if you plan to use the device as portable (bedroom) device at home (reading books, watch pics/movies), the iPad is hard to beat.
Still, my vote goes to the iPhone...

Accepting offers...and I may be interested in trading for a silver or green mini pending how much somebody actually wants for it in trade value. It would just be a spare so I'm not going to credit anybody a large amount but....let me know what you've got and we'll go from there. No Nanos.

I have no problem with people making changes, that wasn't the issue. The issue was the fact that it was changed without notice while I was still working on the page ( I and many others are still learning the interface) .
Understood. In the future, you can add the editing template to an article while you're editing it to warn others not to. Usage is as follows (this automatically adds your name and the current date & time):
{{Editing|~~~~}}
I understand that fully, but i don't agree with the PM comment. The issue with PM'ing people not being appropriate may be true for a huge Wiki, or one on a site that isn't associated with a forum that has a PM system. Macrumors is neither of those, and it only takes a second to see if the person that created an article is online by checking the forums.
In this particular case a PM might have been more appropriate, but my comment was on the use of the cleanup template in general. Basically I was saying that PMs can't replace the template, although they could be used in addition to them.
I agree with the comment about changes being accepted by general consensus, however I don't understand why we need to work with you individually do modifications. That last point seems to contradict the comment about their being no ownership.
I see your point here, I guess what I meant was that in cases of disagreement there should be a discussion about it so as to prevent edit wars (where two or more people continuously revert each other's changes, which is just a waste of time). If such a discussion was to occur, I wouldn't have any more say than any other person in the discussion, and of course if my opinion wasn't the popular one my changes would be reverted.
I appreciate the feedback, and like most of the changes made, however the way in which the changes occurred were borderline disrespectful in my opinion of little importance. :(
Again, I'll admit that I went about it the wrong way, and I apologize for that. No disrespect was intended. I think we've both learnt from this, and I'm sure we'll work well together in the future. :)

I ran into the same issue with pwnage tool and tetheredboot and with snowbreeze I ran into the issue with the iPad being stuck at the apple logo after running the updates in Cydia. I'm back to square one.:(

He took the Der-Der-Der joke and beat it too death. That was the only funny thing, and he killed it.
I would say that is a fair statement. He did take the dee-dee-dee joke to far.

Not terribly much, unfortunately. It's a middling system, not particularly impressive in any spec, with a built-in power-hog CRT. The monitor-less Quadra 605 is a heck of a collectors item; but this is just a monstrosity.
It's not a horrible machine for the time, nor even particularly bad now; it's just fairly common as well as large.
I'd estimate it would be worth, at most, $50. Maybe at some point ridiculously far in the future, if you keep it in absolute pristine condition, fully functional (means replacing capacitors at some point,) it might be worth a lot; but we're talking a long ways off, when CRTs are seen as curious antiques, and 68k Macs are as rare as hens' teeth.

i think it's kinda odd to have a trailer for a website that has been over-hyped for a while, but whatever floats their boats i suppose.

I'm looking for a nice skin or slim case for my MBP. My bag I use is well protected but I'd like something to protect it from maybe something at my desk falling on it.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the responses, i'll do a full restore tonight to see if it has any effects on the battery life, I don't want to turn off the push notifications and push email unless I have too.
it could be that I am in a no service area for most of the day and the phone keeps trying to get the service so maybe I just need to switch it into airplane mode whenever I have no service.

ah... the constant struggle... :)
It's always hard to say.... personally, I've always bought my new macs after a new release.... but it depends how much you need that powerbook right now.

Looked through the forums for this topic, but no dice. My question:
I'd like to transfer pictures from my CDMA phone (on Sprint; LG Rumor2) via bluetooth to my ipod touch 3rd gen. I've gotten them to recognize each other, but they don't seem to hold connection. The iPod especially fails to connect. I've gotten to the point of the passkey and each device identifying the other, but that's where it ends.
Anyone have any success with this, LG or otherwise?

I had the 400 iMac DV SE, and I just put in a 500MHz w/ a better grphx card (was on the 500mhz mobo) and it runs like a charm. Just get the mobo off eBay and there ya go! ;)
so you brought the 500mzh motherboard and just stuck it in, and it worked fine cool

There's a new iMac coming your way in the near future.
They likely don't have any refurb 2008 iMacs fitting the specs of your model, so you'll get a new one. :)
Try to back up that HDD if you can though!

The screenshots are also too wide for a 1024 screen and a 80% width browser window.... :( Which is going to be a lot of PB and iBook users.
But I don't understand this whole "ugly guide" thing...isn't just sending the PM and not moving the guide at all enough?

So...would these work on Verizon? Isn't that WCDMA?
No, Verizon is CDMA2000. AT&T is WCDMA in some areas and GSM in most.

i have the logitech mx700 and an apple optical mouse. i actually prefer the mac mouse. everyone bashes it but i think its so elegant and sleek. i also like the simplicity of it. i think i prefer using one button mice now. i dont think i ever got used to using like 10 or so buttons on the mx700. i used to use pc's for the past 7 years or so. i used a pc earlier and caught myself trying to control click everything instead of right click.
