My case is in background check a.k.a extended review. I tried all the means without any success. Infopass, Ombudsman and senator told me that there is no time limit for these kind of cases. Few unlucky cases gets stuck in this and yes the wait will be very painful if you wait. Best thing is followup every 3 months or so and only think about it on the day or two you followed up.

Have you sent the renewal papers to the right location? If not, after Mar 26th receive date, the applications will be sent back to the applicant - to be sent to the correct lock box.

Your Employer is wrong. USCIS won't send I-94 in separate mail.
As per my knowledge, One should not start working unless there is I-94 attached to I-797 Approval Notice.
Your wife need to go out of the US and get it stamped before start working.
At POE, the Immigration Officer will issue the new I-94 with valid H1-B Status.
Again I am not an attorney...
Please talk to attorney for further clarifications.

Employer says they will receive I 94 document seperately and they will mail it.
My question is, Is Employer saying TRUTH

If my wife does not get her I 94 what are her Options

I read at few forums that Indian consultate does not entertain changing place or date of birth? are there any exceptions to that? Or have they changed policies?

My attorney received an email notice of I-140 approval (PP) on Mon, June 25. But the online case status showed the application as pending. Finally,today my attorney called and was told that due to "system glitch ", approval notices were sent out in error!! It seems this has done to others too!!
Did anyone else encounter this?
I got my approval online but not yet received any notices!! This happened yesterday and my RD is Dec 2006. What is yours??

short term insurance is not recommended because, to my knowledge, short term coverage time period does not count toward pre-existing condition wait time. COBRA coverage period does. It is more expensive, but it is worth it.
Also, I think short term coverage is available only for 3 months or 6 months. Not sure if it is available only for 30 days.
AFAIK you can continue your insurance coverage as it was from previous employer only difference is that you will have to pay for it. Ask HR or Insurance Agent assigned/responsible for your employer.
Alternatively you can buy short term insurance, i used Fortis many times in past. Its very cheap and will cover you between jobs. Search for short-term coverage.
