Monthly Desktops Guidelines:

I know somebody is going to wonder why it’s a day early for them. That’s because if I read it right, this says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC%2B14:00) it’s August first somewhere.
I skipped a month but I’m back. I’ve not changed much, only added a few geektool scripts. I would love if somebody would suppy me with white AirPort and iChat menu extras. I still don’t feel like it’s done though, so let me know if you have any ideas for it.

maybe i'm looking at this with a closed mind, but what else can they add to a phone that isn't out there already? i mean, e-mail, browser, talking, texting, IMing, music, camera, calendar, note pad, games, voice recording it's all already out there. i guess if you can sync your iTunes having video playback that'd be kind of new... but i have video on my razr it just holds like a 4 second video.
iPod scrollwheel and interface, end of story. There are music playing phones out there, but their interfaces are all clunky compared to the iPod. I think the idea with the iPhone will be that when you are not using the phone features, you can use it just like the iPod. Which probably means that it will be a slider phone (like the LG Chocolate except with a real scrollwheel instead of a face one), but we'll see.

REALLY? You're going to throw a 3 and 4 year old phone into the argument? Fine. How many old Android phones can run all the available apps. Heck, how many Android phones less than a year old run all the apps available?:rolleyes:
I am in no way sticking up for Android. I think its fragmentation is worse than what exists on iOS. I was just pointing out that iOS is also fragmented, in its own way. To be honest, iPads can run every app available in the App Store, but an iPhone/iPod Touch can't (the gotcha that iPad Only apps won't run on the other devices).

Anyone lining-up at either At&t or Apple at the Gardens Mall. I spoke with At&T today at the Mall and they said they are opening at 8AM on July 11th, even though the Mall doesn't officially open till 10AM.

Trying to tell y'all... the Verizon iPhone released in February may truly have switched up the game.
Apple & Verizon came together, and will make LTE work within the iPhone sooner than later, and AT&T is playing catch-up within their entire layout of LTE.
If there is indeed a wait on the iPhone 5(no June/July release), I'd expect it coming with LTE in the 1st quarter of 2012, or possibly this fall. Apple is making COIN on the iPhone 4, and the next big thing is - LTE(4G).
Apple is playing this smart as usual... Or this all could be a rumor, and the iPhone 5 will be here in a couple months for a 'normal' launch update, and the iPhone 6 will be the first to introduce LTE in 2012.
I really don't know... but I do think Apple is playing the Ace of Spades, and may hold on for a new release of the iPhone 4(especially in Verizon's case - Feb '11) before the market, and more emphatically, Verizon's market adoption is seen & heard... Think about it... Apple releases the Verizon iPhone in February, then 4 months later releases a new iPhone - there is some bad business going on there.

I will say something about SPRINT. First off, that article is WRONG!
Baltimore, Maryland is the 1st SPRINT test market for 4G, but it's not even mentioned in that article! I know so because SPRINT is actively advertising it and it's been in other press reports. So how many other test markets did they miss in their alleged comparison of 4G vs. 3G I wonder?
Um, all of them, I guess. That test was carried out locally, since the local city, at that time, provided "4G" from the 3 tested providers. I'm not sure why that would be a problem for you. The only issue I have with it is that Tmob is not tested to cover all 4 national providers, perhaps that wasn't up and running in Detroit at the time. Apple should really diversify their suppliers anyway, which is what they look like they are doing. Cut Samsung supply by 50%, and threaten all of it if they don't get their act together. Surely Samsung doesn't think that that they can bring in this kind of revenue on their own merit. Outside of LCD televisions, Samsung has an image problem, and even that has only improved in the last few years.
